Our partnership with The Early Birth Association
At Infantella, we are proud to support The Early Birth Association (EBA), a volunteer-run charity dedicated to providing essential help and support to babies, families and staff at the Trevor Mann Baby Unit in Brighton and the Special Care Baby Unit at Haywards Heath.
Founded in 1983 with the guidance of a Consultant Paediatrician, the EBA began by offering practical assistance to parents during their babies' hospital stays. Over the years, the charity has expanded its support to include:
Funding vital medical equipment, such as incubators, cooling mats, and transport resuscitaires, to enhance the care provided to newborns.
Providing practical and emotional support for families through initiatives like coffee mornings, stocked kitchens, and keepsake items.
Offering comfort items for babies and parents, including bonding squares and bereavement support materials.
Creating welcoming spaces on the units, such as refurbished parent rooms and quiet areas, to support family well-being.
Supporting staff well-being and training, including funding counselling services and advanced neonatal resuscitation training.
The EBA is entirely volunteer-run, with members being parents, family, and friends of babies who have been cared for on the units. Their close working relationship with hospital staff ensures they can respond quickly and effectively to the needs of the units.
Our connection to this cause is deeply personal. My sister and I were both pregnant at the same time, expecting our babies just a few days apart and we were full of excitement and anticipation. But everything changed when my nephew arrived unexpectedly 8 weeks early, at just under 32 weeks. Those first days were overwhelming; filled with worry, hope and the uncertainty of what the future might hold. The care and dedication of the team at the Trevor Mann Unit made an unforgettable difference to our family. They looked after my nephew with skill and tenderness, while supporting my sister with guidance and reassurance. Their kindness and compassion made a real difference during such an emotional and challenging time. Supporting the Early Birth Association is our way of giving back and honouring that incredible care. It allows us to help other families facing the same frightening, emotional journey, ensuring they receive the same compassion, support and reassurance that made all the difference to my sister and our family.
To all parents and families with babies in the NICU or born prematurely: we see you and we know how challenging and emotional this journey can be. Every small milestone is a triumph and every day of progress is worth celebrating. Be gentle with yourself, hold on to hope and remember that you are not alone - there are people who care, who support you and who understand exactly what you’re going through.
We will contribute 30p per product purchased to the EBA. Every purchase from Infantella helps us continue to support this amazing charity and the vital work they do every day.
Thank you for helping !
